The Riskwell company was founded in 2020 by Chris Bird and Patrick De Souza initially to resolve inefficiencies in project delivery in North Sea oil and gas operations. Due to the depressed oil prices and spiralling costs, it was becoming increasingly difficult to create profitable opportunities. Chris and Pat have both been able to deliver success in such circumstances and recognised the opportunity to bring their expertise and successful methodology to the market.
Experts from other industries joined the team and, as a result, we quickly identified the need for Riskwell beyond the oil and gas industry. Indeed, today’s VUCA world has made profitability difficult in all sectors.
With an in-depth knowledge of corporate, project and risk management, and also complex safety critical programme delivery, our decision and risk management experts set about creating industry agnostic tools, processes and practices that will improve decision-making and drive best practice in any sector.

Team behind Riskwell
Chris, co-founder of Riskwell, has 40+ years’ experience in engineering and project management as Technical Director and Managing Director of European businesses in the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors including Centrica Energy, Aker Kvaerner and MOL Group.
Pat, co-founder of Riskwell, has 30+ years’ experience in programme and risk management delivery as Programme and Managing Director in businesses in the Transport, Retail, Logistics and Utilities sectors including Hitachi, Ford, Jaguar, Vivarail and Porterbrook.
Tony is an experienced CIO and digital transformation leader working at major engineering companies including Arup, Atkins and WSP. Furthermore, Tony is founding CEO and CIO of the NeuralRays group, specialists in the design, development, implementation and support of advanced digital and AI solutions, and the developers of the Riskwell software.
Stave has over 30 years leadership experience across many aspects of the oil industry including operations, technical, strategy, economics, commercial and business development. Additionally, Steve has worked in a range of organisations from Exxon through to small start-ups, including a current role as Finance Director of a house building company.
Martin is a director with 20+ years’ experience managing major client accounts; building a successful global consultancy; managing EMEA operations; and leading enterprise level software projects. Previously Global Consulting Director at Palantir UK, Martin played a pivotal role in growing the business from start-up to successful exit. Clients included Shell and UK Government.
